CALLING ALL ARTISTS FOR INAUGURAL “PAINT BANGOR” DAY
Library Partners with Bangor Art Society for Inaugural Fundraising Event
[Bangor, ME] August 7, 2013 – The Bangor Public Library has partnered with the Bangor Arts Society for the Inaugural “Paint Bangor” Day slated for Saturday, September 7th and is calling all artists to participate!
“We are really looking forward to this event with the Bangor Art Society,” says Barbara McDade, Director of the Bangor Public Library. “[We] have worked hard over the years to grow our art collection and public awareness of the monthly rotating exhibits in our art galleries…we are excited to see how the artists portray our historic building and other areas of Bangor.”
“Paint Bangor” Day invites 35 artists to paint the historic Bangor district en plein air. Registration is from 6:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th at the Bangor Public Library. Maps of popular areas will be provided and all art is due back to the Library by 3:00 p.m. The wet paintings will be juried live and select pieces will be available for live auction that evening while the remaining pieces will be on display and available via silent auction. A reception precedes the auctions that evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Registration is encouraged, as only the first 35 artists to sign up will be able to participate. For more information, or to register for “Paint Bangor” Day, visit www.bangorpubliclibrary.org/Events/paintbangor.html.
Proceeds from the silent and live auctions will be donated to the Bangor Public Library’s “Yes for the Library” campaign to renovate and revitalize the interior of the Library. For more information on the campaign, visit www.yesforthelibrary.com.
