PORTLAND, Maine –Murray, Plumb & Murray welcomes new attorney Stacey Neumann to the team at the Portland office. She will introduce a new area of practice to Murray, Plumb & Murray by focusing on criminal defense with an emphasis on white collar defense
Most recently, Neumann served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Portland where she was the Project Safe Childhood coordinator. In this position, she oversaw the office’s investigation and prosecution of child sex crimes. Prior to that, she acted as a defense attorney in Vermont.
Neumann received her Bachelor’s Degree from James Madison University and later graduated from Cornell Law School. After completing law school, she served as a law clerk for the Hon. Peter W. Hall of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice John A. Dooley of the Vermont Supreme Court. She published an article in the American Journal of Criminal Law entitled “It’s Like Déjà vu All Over Again”: Williams v. Taylor, Wiggins v. Smith, Rompilla v. Beard and a (Partial) Return to the Guidelines Approach to the Effective Assistance of Counsel.
Stacey serves as an adjunct professor at the University of New England. She is a member of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Maine Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Stacey lives outside of Portland with her husband, three small children, dog and chickens.
