Thomas O. Bean Accepts Invitation to Join National Advisory Board for The John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics

Thomas O. Bean, a Partner in the law firm of Verrill Dana and the outside General Counsel of the Unitarian Universalist Association, has accepted an invitation to join the National Advisory Board for The John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics, an institute at Washington University in St. Louis aimed at encouraging greater understanding of the multifaceted relationship between religion and politics in America. The National Advisory Board identifies key issues in the Center’s programming, discusses the Center’s performance and policies as it engages national issues on religion, politics and civil discourse, and assists in planning the Center’s election year conferences.  The Advisory Board includes former Senator Jack Danforth (MO) and is chaired by distinguished writer Jon Meacham. Other board members include New York Times columnist David Brooks, and former United States Senators David L. Boren (OK) and Alan K. Simpson (WY).

About Thomas O. Bean: In addition to his service to the Danforth Center, Tom is a co-founder and chair of the Advisory Board at Spark Academy, a public middle school in Lawrence, Massachusetts, that integrates physical fitness and academics.  He is also a member of the Public Service Oversight Committee of the Boston Bar Association.  Tom was appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court as Special Counsel to the Committee on Professional Responsibility for Clerks of Court in 2011, and as a member of the Client Security Board of the Board of Bar Overseers from 2005-2010.  He served as co-chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the Boston Bar Association from 2001-2003.
