Spurwink honors Humanitarian of the Year

PORTLAND, Maine—Spurwink is pleased to recognize John Hallé, president and CEO of Cate Street Capital, as the nonprofit behavioral health agency’s 2013 Humanitarian of the Year.

Mr. Hallé will be honored at an award ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland. A reception will take place from 6:00pm-7:15pm, followed by dinner and the program from 7:30pm-9:15pm. Dancing to the Bob Charest Band will take place from 9:30pm-11:00pm.

The Spurwink Humanitarian of the Year Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to enrich the lives of others.

With more than 25 years of successful development at several high-growth financial companies, Hallé founded Cate Street Capital in 2009. The venture capital firm invests in sustainable technologies that protect the planet.

Hallé is responsible for strategic planning, business assets, and overall corporate growth, including staff development and management. His on-going efforts to restore and create jobs continue to have a direct impact on the health and prosperity of Maine families and communities, most recently having restarted operations at Great Northern Paper in East Millinocket, creating more than 250 jobs.

In addition to restarting Great Northern Paper, Hallé founded Thermogen Industries, which will create more than 100 jobs in Millinocket and Eastport, and support several hundred more within Maine’s forest products industry.

This year’s event also welcomes Spurwink’s new president, Eric Meyer, LCSW, MBA.

Meyer took the reins at Spurwink in early September. He is a widely recognized expert in healthcare and human services, and was selected following an extensive nationwide search.
