Portland, ME (8/19/2013) Verrill Dana is pleased to announce that at its annual meeting held in Quebec, Canada, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) elected Bill Knowles as a Member. ABOTA is a national organization of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution. Currently, 30 trial lawyers in Maine are members of this invitation-only organization including another Verrill Dana attorney, Martha Gaythwaite.
Bill Knowles has maintained a general civil trial practice, with an emphasis on civil rights, commercial, personal injury, probate, and real estate litigation, for 30 years. Bill has tried over 50 cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, in state and federal courts. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pine Tree Legal Assistance.
