A Night To Remember – The Fur Ball: An evening to benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter
(Damariscotta, Maine): The Animal House will again be presenting The Fur Ball: An Evening to Benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter (LCAS) to raise funds and awareness for the shelter.
This year, the event is on Saturday, August 24th from 5-8pm at the Darrows Barn at Round Top Farm on Route 1 in Damariscotta.
This year’s highlights include the Mr. & Mrs. Maine Mutt Pageant (featuring categories in “Talent”, “Best Dressed”, “Most Creative” and “Best in Show”), live music by local favorites, the Horseshoe Crabs, catering by Stone Cove Catering, desserts by Camden Cake Lady, and an extensive Silent Auction.
Silent Auction items include items or gift certificates from Stars, Meadowsweet Inn for Dogs, Sheepscot River Pottery, Oak Street Provisions, Susan Bartlett Rice Studio, Positively Best Friends, Damariscotta Chiropractic, Mutt Nose Best, Circle Stone Designs, Tidal Transit, Kidz Closet, Camp Nancy’s, O’Hara Lobster, Downeast Magazine, Whimsical Years Photography, Le Vatout Bed & Breakfast, Planet Dog, Mia’s Shear Perfection, and dozens more.
The signature drinks will be the “Muttini” and the “Catatonic”.
Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome for the pageant portion of the evening, which takes place from 5:30-6:30pm.
Childcare is also offered this year on-site. The cost is $5 per hour per child and snacks are provided. Snacks and drinks are generously donated by Rising Tide.
All proceeds from this event go to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, to support their work in finding homes for dogs, cats and other companion animals. The shelter adopts out over 500 animals a year and depends on donations to help offset operating costs. Last year’s event generated over $8000 for LCAS, and organizers this year hope to raise even more. Organizers at The Animal House expect another sold out crowd.
Tickets are on sale at The Animal House and are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
The Fur Ball is presented and organized by The Animal House & SUDS! Grooming. The Animal House is an award-winning pet supply store, located at 15 Coastal Marketplace in Damariscotta. They specialize in healthy food and supplies for dogs, cats, small animals & fish and feature full and self-service grooming and a satellite adoption center for the LCAS and other non-profit rescue organizations.
