Robert Moody to Debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra
PORTLAND, Maine – Maestro Robert Moody, Music Director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, announces two significant upcoming orchestra conducting debuts. In August, Moody will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic in an all-Tchaikovsky concert at the Hollywood Bowl. This “Tchaikovsky Spectacular” concert is one of the longest running traditions in Hollywood Bowl history. Maestro Moody will also lead the L.A. Phil in Swan Lake Suite,Capriccio Italien, Symphony No. 2 “Little Russian,” and the 1812 Overture.
In 2014, Moody will lead two separate concerts with the Chicago Symphony. On February 3he conducts CSO’s “Music Now!” series, which features works of living composers. The key work on this concert will be a premiere by CSO resident composer Anna Clyne.
On July 14, 2014, Moody leads the Chicago Symphony at their summer home, the Ravinia Festival. Repertory will include Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini, and Holst’s The Planets.
In March 2013, Moody made his European debut with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Ljubljana. Other guest conducting in the 2013/2014 season includes the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Opera, Jacksonville Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.

Robert Moody, a native of Greenville, SC, serves as the Music Director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Winston-Salem Symphony, and Artistic Director of the Arizona Musicfest.
