PORTLAND, Maine (July 24, 2013)— The Maine Center for Creativity (MCC) elected new officers at its annual meeting in June. Katherine Greenleaf of Greenleaf Consulting was named president; Jamie Morin, Senior Vice President of Operations, WEX, Inc., vice president; Tom MacDonald, Senior Vice President, Mechanic Savings Bank, treasurer; and Alan Atkins of Atkins Chowdry, LLC, clerk.

Sam Sezak of Blue Heron Capital and Linda Varrell of Broadreach Public Relations also joined the board at the June meeting.

MCC Executive Director Jean Maginnis noted that “Sezak and Varrell are fabulous additions to the board. Both bring expertise in areas that are so important to our mission of stimulating economic growth by bringing arts and industry together. We are thrilled to have them.”

A partner at Blue Heron Capital, an East Coast focused private equity fund, Sezak is also involved with small business development initiatives in Maine, and in emerging markets, primarily Haiti, Central America, and Eastern Europe. Sezak has been working on a new MCC initiative, the Maine Inspiration Conferences, aimed at fostering an ongoing conversation between successful business people and local high school students. His nomination was the result of his demonstrated deep concern for the economic progress of our community.

Varrell, a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry and nationally accredited in PR, founded Broadreach Public Relations to help businesses and organizations tell their stories to build credibility, raise their profiles and expand their reach. As MCC’s public relations firm of record, Broadreach has helped the organization with its strategic vision and messaging. Varrell was nominated as a director based on her ongoing community involvement, youth development work, and proven track record.
