Architectural software company to use funds to compete in $1.2 billion sustainable design tools market
PORTLAND, ME – June 24, 2013 – Introspective Systems, the developer of the SIMplexity™ suite of architectural software products for early design, announces that it has received a $151,128 Development Grant from Maine Technology Institute (MTI). MTI is the publicly funded, industry-led, non-profit corporation that provides competitive grants, loans and equity investment to help grow technology-intensive companies and generate high-quality jobs across Maine. Introspective Systems will use the funds to support the further development and testing and to commercialize the solutions within the $1.2 billion sustainable design tools market.
“The award of a development loan to Introspective Systems reflects their innovative software application and the market opportunity in the growing sustainable building market,” says Bob Martin, president, MTI.
“We chose Maine to launch and build Introspective Systems, and are honored to have such strong support from MTI,” says Kay Aikin, co-founder and VP of Business Development, Introspective Systems. “We will use the funds to develop our software solutions for the sustainable architectural community, and to build a market-leading company that brings prestige and good jobs to the State of Maine.”
Demand for greater efficiency in building design and construction is driving the need for tools to support informed sustainable design techniques. Architectural programming and early concept design impact overall sustainability performance more than any other design stage. The SIMplexity™ software tools help the concept development team identify key performance objectives early in the design process, and validate initial design assumptions so that the selected objectives are met by project outcome. Products in the suite include:
- SIMplexity Launch supports the architectural programming phase of the design process by helping the design team collect information they need to build the owner’s program requirements and basis of design, and manage the complex interrelationships among project goals, sustainability metrics, and project requirements. It is in beta testing, and will be released in the fall of 2013.
- SIMplexity Informed Design supports the transition from programming to design development. Informed Design guides designers as they reconcile multiple requirements during the concept design process, including issues of sustainability, functionality, and economics. It is in alpha testing, and will be released in the first quarter of 2014.
