AUGUSTA, Maine – The Maine Bar Foundation (MBF) recently appointed Diana Scully Executive Director. Following the announcement of the retirement of longtime Executive Director Calien Lewis, the MBF began a national search for her replacement over a year ago. The Maine Bar Foundation is Maine’s only statewide nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization devoted exclusively to law-related charitable work.
“Calien Lewis has done tremendous work with for the MBF, and it is difficult to say goodbye after 16 years. We are thrilled to have found a new Executive Director as well qualified as Diana, and we look forward to working with her toward the continued success of the MBF,” said Barbara Raimondi, President of the Board of the MBF.
Scully has an undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and a M.S.W. degree with a policy focus from the University of Michigan. Scully is well qualified in many areas, including nonprofit management, legal, communication and fundraising. Within her many distinguished roles, Scully has worked with both government and private nonprofit organizations advocating on behalf of people who are poor, elderly and/or have a disability. Perhaps her most inspiring accomplishment is the establishment of the Thomas P. Downing Fund, founded in 1985 to recognize and reward those who work tirelessly in the field of low income law. Scully was most recently Senior Director for State Services, National Association for States United for Aging and Disabilities based in Washington, D.C. Prior experience includes many years in Maine including Director of the State’s Office of Elder Services; Executive Director of the inter-governmental Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission; and owner of Vantage Point through which she consulted with more than 60 Maine organizations over a period of 15 years.
She once again is a resident of Maine, returning to Hallowell.
