Wiscasset Adult and Community Education will host a combined education and job fair titled “Learn and Earn” on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Wiscasset High School from 6:00-7:30pm. Midcoast residents are often surprised to discover the wealth of education and career supports available in this area, so here is your chance to check out what you might be missing.
The fair is free and no preregistration is needed. It will be a great opportunity to learn about Wiscasset Adult & Community Education courses in
- Business & Skills Training: Business certificate programs, computer and technology courses, healthcare training
- College Transitions: Career planning, academic preparation for college, student success workshops
- High School Completion: GED & High School Diploma
- Personal Enrichment : Arts & crafts, culinary arts, personal finance, pet ownership, music & dance, and travel, are among the many interesting courses offered.
Representatives from other educational organizations will also be present. These include: the Academy of Medical Professions, University College at Bath/Brunswick, Southern Maine Community College, Southern New Hampshire University in Brunswick and the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME). Learn about local career certificate and degree programs, as well as how to make school financially feasible.
After exploring the wealth of opportunities to “Learn”, be sure to look at some of the ways you can “Earn”. Discover the variety of employment services and supports available at the Maine CareerCenter and from Goodwill Workforce Solutions, as well as the workshops and counseling leading to financial independence and career success offered by the Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community.
If you are actively seeking employment in midcoast Maine, several local companies will be at the fair to talk with job seekers or have displays detailing company information and hiring procedures. Find out more about these organizations and learn about their current and future openings. Participating employers include: Mobius, Mölnlycke Health Care, Lincoln County Healthcare, Merrymeeting Behavioral Health, Bath Iron Works, Bonney Staffing, Hodgdon Yachts, and Maine Coast Stove and Chimney.
